Of course, there are children who can't be persuaded to leave the ski slopes, but especially when little ones are trying skiing for the first time, they often fall in the snow, their hands get cold... in short: there's a lot of crying. To ensure that your little ones' first time skiing isn't a disaster, we've put together some tips and tricks for you:
1.| Positive experiences: Create positive experiences early on. Without positive experiences, the snow seems cold and icy, and you always fall down – which is obviously no fun. So get your children used to the snow with fun and games, such as snowball fights or building snowmen.
2.| Have you already rented or bought skis? Then strap them onto your kids' feet and carefully pull them through the garden (if there is snow). This will give them a first feel for gliding and the equipment. Of course, with a lot of patience and even more humor. ;-)
3. No snow? Then let your little racers strut around the house in their ski boots. It may not be easy at first, but children quickly get the hang of it. Even a little tug-of-war on the carpet with skis on their feet can be a lot of fun and get them excited about real skiing! ;-)
4. Don't force them, reward them instead: If a child has absolutely no desire to ski, then you shouldn't force them. Motivation often comes naturally from watching others.
5.| Seek motivation in the group: Group lessons usually motivate little racers immensely. They love to push each other, and the final race is always a great motivation—here they can show what they've got.
6.| And last but not least: once you have entrusted your little ones to the care of the ski instructors, you can trust them completely and... leave. ;-) Our Snowheroes at CSA-Smiley-Company are complete professionals and have learned their craft from the ground up. Children learn to ski in a much more relaxed and confident manner when mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa are not watching. And: the final race is all the more exciting for you when the little ones get to show off their skills with pride.
These are also the most important points for us in our children's ski courses. The kids should learn to ski with lots of fun and keep positive memories of it – so that later on they will enjoy going on skiing vacations and can enjoy the slopes with the whole family.
